It’s The First President’s Whiskey, By George!
George Washington was the first president of the USA but he still had time to make whiskey.
George Washington’s Straight Rye Premium Whiskey featuring his original recipe – discovered in his distillery ledgers from 1798 and 1799 – contains 60% rye, 35% corn along with 5% malted barley and has been re-created using the original 18th-century methods [grain ground in a re-constructed water-powered gristmill, whiskey fermented in wooden mash tubs and distilled it in copper pots heated by wood fires].
George Washington’s distillery was the largest in the fledgling country of the USA in 1799 – producing nearly 11,000 gallons of spirits – and while whiskey was not aged back in the day, George Washington’s Straight Rye Premium Whiskey has been aged four years in charred oak barrels and is said to produce notes of apples, apricots and spices.
Only 200 bottles of George Washington’s Straight Rye Premium Whiskey will be made available – limited to five bottles per customer – for $225 per 375ml bottle.
