Laphroaig Reveals Unique Character
Islay distiller Laphroaig has released Unique Character – a single malt Scotch whisky honoring Ian Hunter – the final member of the founding Johnston family to run the distillery.
Brothers Alexander and Donald Johnston founded the distillery in 1815. Hunter joined the distillery in 1908 and is credited with doubling the production capacity of the distillery and successfully exporting Laphroaig whisky around the world. Hunter died in 1954 and the distillery is now owned by Beam Suntory.
Laphroaig Unique Character is a 30-year-old whisky matured in first-fill American oak Bourbon barrels and is bottled at 46.7% alcohol by volume [93.4 proof].
Laphroaig Unique Character is being made available for $860 per bottle.
