Mary Quant: Whisky Fashionista
Whisky is becoming more and more fashionable and no more proof is needed of that than the recent auction of a bottle of 27-year-old Springbank Whisky signed and designed by fashion icon Mary Quant going off at auction for $3,811. The whisky was bottled in 1993 to commemorate a charity bike ride near Mount Everest and features an image of the Himalayan mountain on the label.
UK fashion designer Mary Quant was credited with inventing one of the female fashion fads of the 1960s – hot pants – and is one of three credited with the invention of the “mini skirt” [she is, however, solely credited with the name – naming it after her favorite car, the Mini].
