Walsh Whiskey Distillery Gets Green Light For New Distillery
Irish whiskey maker Walsh Whiskey Distillery has received final approval to go ahead with their planned new distillery in Royal Oak, County Carlow, Ireland. The $34 million distillery is partially funded by Illva Saronno [the company responsible for Disaronno and Tia Maria liqueurs] will produce all four types – pot still, single, grain and blended – of Irish whiskey. The Walsh Whiskey Distillery is expected to be operational in 2016.

Speyside distillery Glenrothes has released their Sherry Cask Reserve single malt Scotch whisky. Glenrothes imported European oak sherry casks from Jerez, Spain, to mature their whisky – the first-ever whisky using first-fill sherry casks for Glenrothes. The whisky has taste notes of ginger and orange peel. Glenrothes Sherry Cask Reserve has a 40% alcohol content [80 proof] and will sell for $95 per bottle.
