Pernod Ricard Purchases Castle Brands
French spirits giant – and the world’s second-largest distiller – Pernod Ricard has purchased New York-based Castle Brands for a reported $223 million. Castle Brands is the owner of both Jefferson’s Bourbon and Knappogue Castle Irish whiskey, amongst others.
The purchase adds to Pernod Ricard’s recent bourbon/whiskey acquisitions, which include Texas-based Firestone & Robertson Distilling Company, Kentucky distillery Rabbit Hole, South African spirits distillery, Inverroche and West Virginia-based Smooth Ambler.
“Through this acquisition we welcome this great brand portfolio, in particular, Jefferson’s Bourbon whiskey, to the Pernod Ricard family,” said Alexandre Ricard, chairman and CEO of Pernod Ricard, in a press release.
