The Dalmore Releases 45-Year-Old
One of WhiskyCritic’s favorite distilleries – The Dalmore – is releasing a 45-Year-Old single malt whisky. That is the good news. The bad news is that you are likely to be unable to afford it.
The Dalmore 45-Year-Old was aged 40 years before spending the final five years in two Colheita port pipes from 1961 and 1963, respectively, and finishing in first-fill ex-bourbon casks then ultimately bottling it up [in Baccarat crystal decanters, naturally] at 40% alcohol by volume [80 proof]. The result is said to produce notes of chocolate, fruit, hazelnuts and toffee.
Only 500 decanters of The Dalmore 45-Year-Old will be made available for the paltry sum of $12,500 per decanter.
