I wish to visit New York in the near future as well. The night life is amazing, purely amazing. There are thousands of people on the streets at 1-2-3 AM in the morning, NY knows how to party! This is an awesome article. I have never been to New York but would be interested in visiting some of these places if I ever get a chance to go. It is on my bucket list for next year but we will see!
Missed opportunity man, but life goes on! I'm sure you'll have another shot at New York, I'm planning to go soon as well. Where are you located currently? That is what I hear from anybody who has been. I hope to find out for myself some day. A bunch of my friends went a few years back. I couldn't get the time off work so I couldn't go. I was so sad. They had a blast. I was so jealous when I seen all the pictures and heard about all the partying they did.
As a fellow New Yorker, I can say that it only sucks living in New York if you are in Manhattan since everything is overpriced and crowded. Since everyone considers Manhattan to be "The City" the outer boroughs are somewhat ignored though they have attractions just the same. Bars in the Bronx tend to be more affordable when it comes to their drinks, for instance. This was a great article; I am going to save it for future reference, thank you for sharing. When most folks think New York they think New York City the statue of Liberty, Empire State building, World Trade Center, Times Square, bright lights and night life. Rarely do they think about upstate New York; it is entirely different than the big city.
My little town has a population of less than 20,000 with few bright lights and night life. We are a college town so there is no shortage of whiskey and beer. We can travel through the rural area about an hour away and have a much wider selection and about 2 hours to a fabulous casino with many top events going on.
We have gone to NYC several times; once we drove and that shall never happen again. It honestly took us longer to get out of the city in actual moving traffic than it did to get the rest of the way home. I loved NYC for a visit yet I would never live there. We attended several great Mets games; it was disappointing to pay $8.00 for a 10oz. beer of a few choices.

NY is the city that never sleeps. The bars don't close and people typically don't go out until midnight or later. It is not common for people to stay at clubs until 4am, then get up and do it again the next night. This was a big shock to me after coming back to NY after living in Boston (the bars close at 2am). Although a lot of my friends aren't big Whiskey drinkers, I have to say my favorite alcohol is by far Whiskey on the rocks. I typically stick to drinking a Makers Mark as I think the quality and price as up to par. However, I of course love a good shot of Jack Daniels.I wish to visit New York in the near future as well. The trouble would be finding them and partaking of them. I haven't been to New York for years, but the last time I was there, I ended up standing in line for the Empire State Building about 2 hours.establishments in nyc, according to an nyc whisky expert...
