Well, smokers say it relieves stress, probably because they're addicted to smoking. I wouldn't say there's any benefit otherwise. At least alcohol is actually healthy when used in moderation.

I think it matters. Whiskey definitely tastes better as it ages, I wouldn't say the difference is great but it's there nonetheless.
