Ever Thought About Brewing Your Own Beer?

I'd be more interested in trying home brewing for the creative aspects of it. It would be fun to experiment with different styles and flavors. You might eventually save some money. I don't think you would at first though. It would require a bit of an investment to get started. You'd need...

    What Type Of Glass?

What kind of flask do you use? I'd never walk around with one, and I don't really think I'd get much use out of it just having a drink at home. I just think they look cool. I have thought of giving a flask as a gift. There are some nice ones.

    Dogfish Head Midas Touch

Mead isn't technically a beer, but this is the category closest to it. Some mead is mixed with beer, so I figured it's close enough. Mead is made with fermented fruit and honey, which creates a unique taste (sometimes hops is used to take away some of the sweetness). It's been around for...

    Best Bourbon Cocktail?

Ha, it's not just for ladies in hats. :) Mint Julep is actually very refreshing. Of course, I find almost anything with fresh mint in it to be refreshing. Is there another name for this drink? I've had similar with vodka (or preferably gin), but I have never tried it with bourbon. Sounds good...

Do You Have A Favorite Whiskey Drink?

I never really liked mixing anything with soda, at least not back when I drank soda regularly. Then, after drinking, I wouldn't like the taste of plain soda pop the next day. It would still taste like booze to me. Ginger ale is a bit different, since I never drank that regularly, so it was...

    Beer Tasting

I'm not a big fan of bitterness either. Sour is okay, but bitter, not so much. The place I mentioned had lots of choices on tap, which was great. If you ever get a chance to visit a microbrewery or brew pub, you should check it out. It's an interesting and enjoyable experience. They usually...

    Best Beer Ad Ever!

I don't like to drink Bud, but I have to say, they have had some great ads over the years. I'll give credit where credit is due. They are very creative. Andes Camouflager is a funny one. You can catch it on youtube. It's a way to hide your last beer to "keep it from falling into the wrong...

    What Type Of Glass?

I don't do shots of whiskey, so no, not a shot glass. I have a couple of rocks glasses (or lowball) that I use for a variety of things. I love glasses and collect wine and beer ones. I have a pair of lowball and a pair of highball, as needed for the occasion. I don't really have the space to...

Do You Smoke More When You Drink?

I think most people are aware of the dangers. It's just not that easy to quit when you've been doing it for ages. We didn't have all the warnings when I was young and started smoking. In fact, the ads tried to make it look glamorous. Some even said it was "healthy." Blame the tobacco companies...

    Drinking Beer With Food

Beer can be kind of heavy and makes me feel full. Due to that, I tend to prefer lighter foods like snack foods with it. Cookouts are perfect. You can never go wrong with cold beer on a hot day. With a cookout, you can eat as little (or as much) as you like, while enjoying the sunshine and a...

Do You Have A Favorite Whiskey Drink?

I think people should drink what they like, so why not orange juice? I don't think I've ever tasted it like that. I have had drinks that add juice to whiskey, but they usually add something else as well. In fact, I used to make a drink that was a copycat of the Jack Daniel's Downhome Punch...

Do You Smoke More When You Drink?

Back when I smoked cigarettes, I noticed that I always went through more of them if I was having a few drinks. I had to consciously avoid smoking constantly while enjoying a cocktail or a cold beer. I vape now, and it doesn't seem to be as much of an issue. What about you? Cigars, cigarettes...

What Are You Drinking This Weekend?

This weekend I had some coconut stout, which I've been saving for a while. Since I didn't get around to drinking it for my anniversary, I decided it was time. It was quite good. I had a home brewed one at a beer festival a while back. It was so delicious that I've been trying to find something...

Do You Have A Favorite Whiskey Drink?

I don't mean a brand, per se, but a mixed drink. Do you have a favorite cocktail made with whiskey? It can be anything from whiskey and coke to the most intricate mix. Maybe you prefer it neat, on the rocks, etc. but even so, you've probably tried some mixed drinks at some point. Did you like...

How Much Do You Usually Spend Buying Beer?

We've found some ways to spend less. Tasting various beers via flights offered in some places, is a great way to try new beer without spending too much. Instead of buying a 4 pack, 6 pack, or 750 ml, you can just get a tester glass to see if you like it first. Another option is trading. In...

    Bourbon Barrel Aged Beer

There is a big difference between mixing beer with bourbon and drinking beer aged in bourbon barrels. I guess it just goes by preference. In the latter, it's intended to subtly enhance the flavor, which it does quite nicely, if done right. KBS is another great example of that. It tastes...

Wеddеd Wеdnеsdаy - Bееr + Fооd Pаiring Tаlk

I think it really depends on the person. It also depends on the beer. Not all beer is bitter. You might want to try something a bit less hoppy. The main reason I don't tend to like beer with food is because beer can be quite filling on its own. Combined with heavy food, you just feel too stuffed.

Wеddеd Wеdnеsdаy - Bееr + Fооd Pаiring Tаlk

I can't think of one of my own off the top of my head, but I did hear one recently. The guy was giving a very detailed description of the Ballast Point Habanero Sculpin. He described is at hot, but not "burn your mouth" hot. More of a sensation that envelopes your mouth, throat, everything, but...

    Ovrrdrunk

As a former bartender, I have seen more than enough people embarrass themselves in public. Yeah, I don't want to be one of them. We usually just have a couple of drinks at home, if we're in the mood for a beer or a glass of wine or a cocktail. I think it's much better that way, and cheaper...

    Ovrrdrunk

It's funny, we were recently talking about the drinks that creep up. I might have overindulged just a little on my birthday, even though I don't usually do that. I had a little twinge of hangover the next day, which is unusual. I swear, it was that last one. If I just hadn't had that last one...
