Drinking Speed

What is your normal drinking speed? Do you like to enjoy your drink slowly for hours or prefer to gulp it doown rapidly?

If you prefer to gulp it down , do you end up in the so called alcohol SHOOT. ? Are you able to keep yourself under control later on.?

I never drink fast, I like to enjoy the rich flavor of every drink, friends always taunt me for drinking slowly. They knock themselves out while I'm still enjoying my first glass, haha.

Then you must be a real slow drinker. It is good on your part that you tend to enjoy the rich flavour of every drink.

To to hold the glass for so long also demands a lot of patience.. Isn't it?

Indeed, I never black out from being drunk, unlike my friends who love to get wasted at every chance they get. I think alcohol needs to be enjoyed, why even bother purchasing expensive drinks when you're going to gulp them down instantly? In that case you should just buy the cheapest beer available and fill yourself up.

For me a lot depends on what I'm actually drinking and the reason behind it. If I pour myself a couple of whiskeys at the end of the day then I do take my time with them and savour them. If I am on a night out and sticking to beers and lagers then I do drink a lot faster.

Sometimes I actually WANT to get drunk and especially at the weekend when there's no work in the morning to get up for so again, I tend to drink a lot more quickly. During the week though it's simply a way to unwind and relax so tend to drink a lot slower.

This is such an admirable approach. Even I hate people who get drunk so as to lose all the control. Such people are simply unacceptable around me.

I always prefer people drinking in a sophisticated and controlled manner. Drinks are to be enjoyed and should be a method how they are ingested.

Drinks are there to be enjoyed, but the fact remains that people drink for the effect it has on them also. Depending what we are drinking and how strong it is, sometimes we can feel the effect it's having after only one or two drinks, so even if we don't plan to get drunk we end up doing.

I do agree with you though, and there aren't many people that actually like to see others (or themselves) drunk, and we should all know when to stop before we have too many, but sadly a lot of people don't.

Well this is one where I am thankful for my tendency to be a wuss or whatever you want to call it when it comes to drinking. It can get you into a lot of trouble, so I just take it slow.

I agree to your point that most of the people drink in order to enjoy it's after effects and there are only a few who drink so as to enjoy the taste.

But in most of the cases I have seen people getting completely knocked out because of so rapid intake of alcohol. It seems to have a terrible shooting effect on their minds.

That does seem to be the case for some people and they go out just to get drunk. Here in the UK there is also the trend now to get drunk and THEN go out, so it's not even as though they are enjoying themselves when they are out and drinking too much because they are caught up in the moment.

I think as you get older your tolerance to alcohol subsides as well though, so whereas people can drink 10 pints and have a few spirits and be drunk and happy, as they get older they can no longer do that so we do naturally become less likely to drink just for the sake of getting drunk.

I agree that with age our body's capacity to handle alcohol declines. A wise person soon analyzes his limits and stops as and when he feels he will not be able to handle it further.

But for those who just want to get drunk and prefer to remain oblivious to the reality there is no help. No one can help them until they realize it themselves .

I wouldn't advice anyone to drink fast, you could choke on the beer and beside you aren't going to enjoy the good taste of the beer. I drink slowly having some good talk with friends if I'm on an outing. It more enjoyable, relaxing and less intoxicating if you take it slowly.
