How Do You Drink Your Scotch?

Hey pallies. I do thoroughly enjoy Scotch Whiskey. I drink mine in a real basic fashion: over the rocks or, at times, neat. In years past I've done the scotch and soda thing, but gave it up.

So, how do you drink your Scotch? Why so?

Thanks for sharing! :)

Same. I already tried to drink it up with soda a couple of times but it's not the same thing. Nowadays I just put the rock on it and it's perfect.

As a kid I used to drink it with soda because it was too strong for me at the time, but right now I do it basic.

I like mine on the rocks. You really get to enjoy the flavor when you drink it that way. I can't imagine mixing it with anything. It just wouldn't be the same.

I like it straight up, but never in a shot glass. Since I don't drink scotch that often I like to savor it.
In summer if it's really hot I will put some ice in it.

Neat. Sometimes, depending on the whiskey we are talking about, I might put some ice.
I didn't think of that, if the scotch is good I like it neat. On the other hand if the scotch isn't too good I'll try to hide the taste with some cola and ice.

I am not certain that I have had Scotch. What is the real difference between Scotch and regular whiskey? What is the best brand of Scotch if you want to try it.

I always have mine on the rocks. One, it give the scotch a more enhanced taste (at least to me) and two, it gives a nice delayed effect when the alcohol kicks in, what with the gradual warming sensation you feel as you drink it rather than everything hitting you at one.

The real difference is that scotch is made in Scotland and whiskey can pretty much be made anywhere. It's just another way of say Scottish whiskey.

Adding water or ice can actually enhance the flavour. It really depends on the whiskey and your personal preference, I highly suggest trying your favourite whiskey neat, with a bit of water, with a bit of ice, and just see which feels the best for you.

Neat. For some reason I can only drink Scotch neat. It's the only way it taste right, maybe on the rocks but mostly just... Neat.

I like my Scotch,on the rocks and I think you need the right glass as well,so I choose the old fashion"rocks"glass,or they call it a "low ball" style. You can really get your nose in there and take a nice hearty whiff ,and get that great aroma of the Scotch before you drink it down. I think the ice cubes give it a smoother flavor, but they say you shoud only drink the blends on ice?

I actually had some neat the other night and I think that I am going to introduce this a little more. It works well with my tendency to just sip on things anyway.

Even though i have drunk scotch along with soda for quite awhile now, i have tried Neat a couple times so far and it has been an enjoyable experience.

Some people consider me a little bit radical, but my Scotch has always to be pure.

No matter the location or the temperature of the climate at the moment, my Scotch needs to be pure so that I can drink and fully appreciate the flavor.

I do agree with you on this, some alcoholic drinks can be ruined by adding things that will affect the taste and the flavor.

I usually have to have it small and light, meaning just a little bit or at least mixed with some water. I like to sip drinks like this, so the longer it can last the better.

Yeah and scotch is one of the clearest examples of this. I can't understand (but I respect the decision ;)) how anyone lets the taste of scotch dissipate in the middle of several other blends.

Scotch good is scotch pure.
