Fake Or Real Tree?

I had this conversation with my friends the other day. I have a fake tree at my house simply because it's much easier to pack up or deploy, but I have to say that a real tree is miles better.

I like both actually..I wanted to get a real tree this year, first time in many years, because they had nice affordable ones near me. However, my roomate tells me out of the blue he has a "pine allergy" thus kills that idea!

Some people told me that they don't buy real trees because they feel guilty of cutting them, but my family owns a tree garden so I don't feel too guilty. I think I'm gonna have a real one next year.

I have a fake tree. I like that I can put it up early and keep it up late and not have to worry about it drying out. I do like the smell of a real tree though so I have a wreath on my door so I can still enjoy the smell.

I don't really care to have a tree either way, but I suppose I would have to go with a fake one if I really had to choose. Mainly for the fact that it is easily storable and I don't have to worry about attracting insects or whatnot.

Insects in the winter? Haha, you probably live in a very warm climate. I haven't seen an insect for these past couple of weeks, mostly bugs.

We don't have to worry about insects around here either. They would dare come out in this cold and snowy weather. They have all been gone for months now!

I always had fake trees growing up and wanted to have real trees as an adult. I love the tradition of going to pick one out and how it makes the house smell so good. But, after a few years of having to deal with the mess it makes and hauling it out to the curb...I know understand the appeal of a fake one. I'm guessing in a few years I'll cave and get a fake tree. I can always get a wreath for the nice pine smell.

A fake tree is equally as painful to clean up, especially if it's been in your house for a couple of years. The quality starts to decline and it leaves a lot of crap behind.

Haha for a while I was thinking what's going on here. Then I realised that you are talking about Christmas trees. Seriously for quite a while I was thinking "really? someone plants a fake tree in their garden?"

Anyway. Real for me, always been that way and it will always stay that way if there is a tree. If I can't be bothered to get a real one then I'll just be without one.

Yeah, I understand the guilt part...I had some around my property, that might have worked as Christmas trees too...but, I did feel kind of bad about the idea of cutting one down. I had a living tree once and it died when we planted outside..and somebody told me "they always do." I think if you know what you are doing though, they could live.

Real trees are the salt of the earth. I don't care if you can recycle an artificial tree for 11,000 years to come. No matter how real it looks, just knowing that it is a fake will not allow you to be as joyful as you would if you knew in your heart that you have a real Pine Christmas tree. Artificial trees will never give you that wonderful pine smell that we adore around the holidays. I'm sorry but I don't care what you believe, there is nothing like the real thing.

My family always ops for a real tree. Even growing up, we always hopped in the car to go pick out the perfect tree that usually took my dad three hours to find after we hiked ten miles to only discover we past it when we first pulled into the tree farm by the entrance. We would cut it down, throw it on top of the car like the Griswalds, and get it home only to discover its too big to fit in the living room.

I'm all in for the artificial one. First off, you preserve our Mother Nature. Second, it's way easier to take care of it. Third, you don't even have to dispose of it. Instead, you can simply keep it in your basement/attic, so you don't have to buy another one for the next year.

Honestly, I don't like spending the NY's day at home. The same story with Christmas, too. I prefer doin' that at more social places. That's way more fun!

I never had a natural tree when I grew up, so I have to say artificial tree. I think that they are easier to deal with when Christmas is over and it saves trees from being cut.

I had fake tree and it was so dusty that it was giving me allergies. Now I have a real potted tree and it helps my breathing by cleaning up the air in my home. I pick real over fake any day!
