Some people told me that they don't buy real trees because they feel guilty of cutting them, but my family owns a tree garden so I don't feel too guilty. I think I'm gonna have a real one next year.I like both actually..I wanted to get a real tree this year, first time in many years, because they had nice affordable ones near me. However, my roomate tells me out of the blue he has a "pine allergy" thus kills that idea!
Insects in the winter? Haha, you probably live in a very warm climate. I haven't seen an insect for these past couple of weeks, mostly bugs.I don't really care to have a tree either way, but I suppose I would have to go with a fake one if I really had to choose. Mainly for the fact that it is easily storable and I don't have to worry about attracting insects or whatnot.
A fake tree is equally as painful to clean up, especially if it's been in your house for a couple of years. The quality starts to decline and it leaves a lot of crap behind.I always had fake trees growing up and wanted to have real trees as an adult. I love the tradition of going to pick one out and how it makes the house smell so good. But, after a few years of having to deal with the mess it makes and hauling it out to the curb...I know understand the appeal of a fake one. I'm guessing in a few years I'll cave and get a fake tree. I can always get a wreath for the nice pine smell.
Yeah, I understand the guilt part...I had some around my property, that might have worked as Christmas trees too...but, I did feel kind of bad about the idea of cutting one down. I had a living tree once and it died when we planted outside..and somebody told me "they always do." I think if you know what you are doing though, they could live. Some people told me that they don't buy real trees because they feel guilty of cutting them, but my family owns a tree garden so I don't feel too guilty.
