Aged Or Young Whiskey?

What type of whiskey do you prefer, old whiskeys or younger whiskeys?
I prefer 15 old whiskeys, not all of them, but they tend to be smoother and full of body.
 
I prefer older whiskeys but the younger ones are usually cheaper. I'm a penny pincher so I usually buy the cheap stuff, unless it's a special occasion.
 
I think a lot of people would agree with me when I say that I prefer an aged whiskey over a young one. Sure there are some young ones that are tasty and they will get the job done, but an aged one is tastier.

It really depends on the whiskey but there are some 5 year old whiskeys that are better then some 15 year old whiskeys, but in general your right. The older the better.
 
Obviously aged, there's no question about it, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get an aged whisky, especially if it's expensive.

I can relate to that, aged whiskey is something that you don't drink on a daily bases, so it's well worth saving it for a special occasion. I wouldn't drink an aged whiskey just for the sake drinking it.
 
I definitely prefer an older whisky. I have had a few bartenders suggest younger whisky's to me and I've enjoyed them, but if given the choice, I will go with an older whisky to start. The flavors are all there for the taking. Age adds flavor and that's why I drink whisky- for the flavor.
 
I prefer to drink the old ones, but my money can only afford the younger ones. I've already tasted both a lot, and the old ones are way better in terms of taste and texture.
 
I am not sure I have had any really good, old aged whiskey. I might ocassionally buy a "better" brand, but normally I will buy the least expensive within a set of acceptable alternatives.

I know that feeling all too well. I avoid the older bottles most of the time. They tend to be much, much more expensive compared to the younger whisky available. The old whisky usually has a smoky flavor to me, while the younger whisky tastes like basic "whisky."

Lооk саrеfully аt thе lаbеl fоr thе yеаr оf bоttling... Thе diffеrеnсе bеtwееn thе twо is thе truе аgе оf thе whisky... Dоn't bе tаkеn in by sоmе shаrp sаlеsmаn trying tо sеll yоu stосk thаt's bееn сluttеring up his wаrеhоusе fоr а dесаdе.
 
If everything that I have been told is right, then I would probably take the aged stuff. The truth is though is that you could probably fool me over and over, but oh well.
 
I prefer the older whiskeys because the taste gets much more intense and more delicious. For me, the older the whisky... The better the taste.

I think the age of whisky is one of the factors that most contribute to its evolution.
 
I have never really thought about it as much, but i have always preferred aged Whiskeys since i find that they develop a stronger taste and much more intense as Shine stated.
 
A lot of people here on this thread are saying that they prefer older whiskies but are drinking the younger ones because of financial constraints - reminds me of something my gran used to tell me: 'When times are tough, the solution is not to cut back but to make more money!":D
 
Older Whiskey is not always better,and the best tasting Whiskey is the one that you prefer I would say. The maturation of Whiskey is dependent on many variables including climate and so Whiskey aged in Kentucky or California might age faster than Whiskies produced in other climates?
