How Is Beer Made?

I definitely recommend watching this documentary if you have the time, I've always been curious about who came up with beer and how it's usually made, this covers it all.
 
I have been aware that beer that one of the main ingredients in the formulation of beer is an ingredient known as hops amongst others and that the there is a brewing process involved in producing the beverage. However, there are many differences in the flavor, even though no matter the differences, there is no problem in defining them all as beer. However in many instances, these variations in flavors are attributed to the individual brewmaster's secret brewing concoction.
 
There are so many things that contribute to the final taste of an individual beer. The yest that is used, were the hops comes from and the variant that is used, even the water can give the beer it's unique taste. Great video, it's a good way to see how the liquid gold is made.

Yeah, that's why beer is my second favorite drink. Once a brand comes out you can expect it to have a different taste depending on the yest, water and the flavors used. I love the customisability and that's why homebrewing is so satisfying.
 
Ha, FuzyOn...you probably wanted to watch the documentary, because of the presenter! I think the process is a bit similar to wine..but with hops involved, and less aging. I can not watch the documentary right now..but I will later.

Arrggh... don't say that here, haha! I wouldn't say I wasn't attracted by the presenter. :p
Yeah, the process is relatively similar, there are more "hops" and stages involved in beer brewing though.
 
I love watching series that feature beer and how it has come to be. I find it interesting to see how beer began and how far it has come. Beer is something that has remained popular among the public for years. It's amazing to me that no one tires of it. I love reading about ancient brewing techniques.
 
@kgord making beer and wine has it's similarities but it's very different. In wine making there isn't a cooking process and all you have to do is squeeze the juice out of the grapes and you are ready to go, unlike beer were you have to make a wort.
 
A wort? Hmm, I don't think I ever heard that term before. All things considered, it is probably easier to make wine than beer. I have seen recipes online where all you need is like a cheesecloth, juice and so forth. Some kind of starter maybe. I have never tried to do it, but I bet it would cheaper than the store bought stuff.
 
The wort is what comes out after you have boiled the grains and extracted must of the sugars. In the case of wine all you need is some grape juice, yest and you are ready to go. Even when it comes time to bottle the wine it's much easier, you don't have to do a double fermentation, unless you want to make "champagne".
