In not exactly the most representative conglomeration of the society of international whiskey drinkers, three Irish people try three Irish whiskies and three American whiskies in this video presented by Facts. Feel free to ignore any or all of the trio and decide with your own tongues, but find delight - as Jim Beam certainly must - that at least one of them selects Jim Beam over Jameson....

I think both variety of whiskey has its merits. It just depends on what your tastes are and that will determine if you like one over the other. ( Though I tend to favor Irish Whiskey myself a bit more than American Whiskey,but I won't turn down the other if it is a good brand.)
 
It depends on the companies. You can't really tell the difference with cheap whisky but things change when you purchase the more expensive ones.
 
I tend to prefer Irish whiskey over American but like the others have said, it really depends on the brand. Some are better then others. You can really tell the difference in the expensive whiskeys, not so much in the cheap brands.
 
I am not sure if I have had the Irish whiskey's. I will have to make it a point to try some and compare. I have had several different brands of American whiskey though. I don't have a lot of money right now, though, so sadly, I just end up drinking what ever is the cheapest.:(

You never had Irish Whiskey? That's pretty surprising, but I understand not having cash to drink the good stuff. Jameson is a really good brand of Irish Whiskey to try and it's pretty inexpensive so you don't have to break your wallet to buy it.
 
I may check for it, the next time I make it into the liquor store. I try various brands and could make sure I put Irish whiskey on my list. It sounds like a winner!
 
If you like liqueurs, you can also try out Baileys since they use Irish Whiskey and it tastes really good, especially in Mint Chocolate or Cherry Cordial~
 
Oh I love me some Baileys. I like to add it to my morning coffee on the weekends as a little treat. It is so good. Mint Chocolate and Cherry Cordial are both amazing flavours!
 
However, Baileys is made from Irish whiskey and a cream based liqueur for the consistence it has as an Irish cream. I wouldn't say it is not tasty because on the contrary, it is probably the best whiskey cream.

However, and aside Jameson and Bushmills, I have not tried any other Irish whiskey to compare against American brands and taste.

Even though, I more likely Scotch fan, being Old Parr my favorite.
 
I saw that video two days ago. It's hilarious they are trying their hardest to pick the Irish whiskey but nearly always end up picking the American one.
 
Well one thing it's difficult for me to differentiate between American Whiskey and Irish Whiskey. The fact remains they all have their unique compositions and taste.
 
I bet that there are some good American ones out there. I would always choose the Irish though if I was given the option just based on my assumptions.

Bailey's is one of my favorite beverages, too bad that it's just so expensive, I can't buy it as often as I would like.
 
Irish whiskeys are definitely better than American whiskeys (which are very good indeed :)) because the taste is more accurate and more striking (at least for me, of course :D).

A lot of the quality of Irish whiskeys comes from the fact that so many of their distilleries are built along waterways and their recipes are structured around that specific quality of water. In the US even high-quality whiskey tends to begin with distilled water. Any culinary art is a cumulative process. Your dish is only as good as the least ingredient. Alcohol is no different.

I agree i find them to be far more enjoyable in comparison to the American Whiskeys.
 
I would pick Irish Whiskey because it is triple distilled, so it makes it a very easy drinking and a light kind of Whiskey overall-and some of the cheaper blended Irish Whiskeys include Jameson,Bushmills and Tullamore Dew which are the most popular ones. I have not tried Tullamore Dew though and would not mind trying a bottle or two.

Take it easy with the bottles to avoid problems, dude... Haha! :p

You have to remember: whiskey is not water. :D
