Beer Tasting

We went to a place a couple weeks ago that offer flights of beer for $4-5 each. You get four 4 ounce pours to taste, and you can select them yourself. This place featured 50 different choices to choose from.

They had a nice variety of brands, styles, and even some others to try like shandy or cider.

We enjoyed it and found it interesting, so much so that we had to call a cab, ha ha.

Have you done any beer tasting or gone to any brew pubs? If not, you should check it out. Good times.

Tasting around 50 flavors can really make you end up over drunk. But yes it would be really nice if you get to taste so much of variety at a single place , at a single time and that too at such a low cost. You must have had an experience for life. I would live to have it as well.

Well, we didn't try them all in one night. My husband and I each got different ones and sipped each others, so we were able to try quite a few though. We'll have to go back another time to try the rest.

It's just neat to have so many choices. It's a great way to try beer you've never had before too. You can get a little tester instead of buying a whole 4 or 6 pack and finding out you don't like it.

This is something that I would not be good at. Even the really good ones can escape me if I am not aware of what it is I am drinking.

I'm quite busy so I haven't had the time to do that yet, but I will try to once I have free time. I would love to try out new kinds and brands of beer.

I'm not sure what you mean. You would be aware of what you are tasting, because you pick out the ones you want to try. Our bartender was really good too, and she would let us know which ones were which once she poured them.

They had a paper menu too, so you could circle the ones you chose to keep them fresh in your mind.

I found it to be a good experience. It also helped me decide to buy more of a certain beer and avoid buying more of one that I had been wanting to try.

I think having some sips of water in between while serving some light snacks and the order won't matter too much. To some degree you want to temper how much palate smashing occurs from the bigger beers, but a little food/water will go a huge way in making it easier to transition.
I'd probably go Opal, Oro, Board Meeting, Lost and Found, Sculpin, Arrogant Bastard, Wookey Jack, and Smoked Porter BUT, that's just me. It'll be fun no matter what you go with.

I haven't been to a brewery ever, but I usually try new beers one by one in the bars when I go. I always order something else to try out. Since I don't like beer that much, there are a few that I am okay with, some that are not too bitter.

I'm not a big fan of bitterness either. Sour is okay, but bitter, not so much. The place I mentioned had lots of choices on tap, which was great.

If you ever get a chance to visit a microbrewery or brew pub, you should check it out. It's an interesting and enjoyable experience. They usually have a nice, casual, atmosphere and in the ones I've visited, the people have been very friendly and accommodating.
