Cubans Coming And What To Smoke ...

Well, relations are thawing between the US and Cuba. President Obama was just down there. There is a chance we'll start seeing Cuban cigars being more common here in the States.

Do you think this will happen? Any particular Cuban cigars you recommend?

Thanks pals. :)

I think that you will see some Cuban cigars coming to the US as soon as the embargo is dropped. I'm not sure if it has been done yet or not but I don't really see why the US should carry on having the embargo of Cuban products if relations are so good now.
I would recommend Cohibas.

I heard that travellers are allowed to being in $400 worth of goods from Cuba into the US. That $100 of that can be alcohol and tobacco products. So, you can already buy from people at probably a very steep price, though.

I am so glad that we have ended this silly war with Cuba and I can smoke my Cubans freely now. Do you think that this will drive the cost down now that they are not illegal and they might lose their appeal? I hope so! I need a bargain!

The prices should drop a bit, but there is a big global demand for Cuban cigar's so they will still be on the expensive side.

Oh Wow, tobbacco shops will be advertising big time when they get their hands on some big, fat Cubans. There are plenty of good cigars, but I think the soil, the tobbacco and the handcrafting make them the best. I wonder if Obama had one...lol.

I can't really recommend anything, as I'm not an experienced cigar user. However, I like this news. I've heard that people from Cuba are kind of best when it comes to producing cigars. They are famous for it, right?

Yes, I think it has to do with the soil the tobacco is grown in. They have a unique flavor and are without a doubt the best cigars you can have.

Haha, it's already time for you americans to start enjoying some Cuban Cigars, they're amazin!

It would be nice to see Cuban cigars more often in the United States. I love Cuban cigars. The Cuban cigars always have a really nice flavor to them. I think it would be awesome to visit my local Tobacco lounge and see a nice selection of Cuban Cigars alongside everything else they have available. I didn't even know that there was a low selection of Cubans since I never had an issue finding them.

I suppose they are importing them now. I know where there is a shop that sells premium tobacco, I might check with them in terms of their cigars and see when they expect to get Cubans in.

If you can I highly recommend trying them out, believe me it's not all hype.

You can't argue with the facts. We've been locked out since the Kennedy administration half a century ago. Word is JFK had one of his aids buy up a bunch of Cubans before he imposed the embargo. I'm not sure if it is true, but, hey, it would have made sense. ;)

It would've made sense indeed, although I'm not that familiar with US history. I guess better late than never, right? :D

hehe, no worries. The complex relationship with Cuba, particularly during the Cold War, is something that can be hard to follow at times. Up until the revolution, we had strong economic and cultural ties with said country. Then, all of a sudden, the Soviets had an outpost, literally, 90 miles off the coast of Florida. Considering the time and place, it isn't surprising war jitters swept the nation. But relations appear to be thawing these days.

I was always able to get a hold of Cubans, despite the embargo. I know a few shop owners around here. Plus, there have been tons of Cuban cigars masked as Dominican products for years to get them in. However, if you want a real, branded Cuban cigar, you could still find one readily and easily in the U.S. You just had to pay a premium. I am hoping now that they can be imported that the price will plummet! Supply and demand. Forbidden things are always more expensive.

Yes, I am going to check in a local tobacco shop and see if they have any information on Cubans coming. I think that you might have the best luck finding them in a store that sells higher end products though. That would be my guess anyway. However, I think you are right, and they will come down in price.

There are always a way around any embargo. They can try what they want but like they say were there is a will there is way.
