In honor of celebrated novelist George Orwell, Jura has released its Jura 1984 Vintage single malt Scotch whisky. The whisky touts a 44% alcohol content [88 proof] and spent time maturing in three different casks - American White Oak, Amoroso sherry and Apostoles Oloroso sherry.
Orwell – whose real name was Eric Blair - wrote his signature novel, “Nineteen Eighty Four”, while living on the Scottish island of Jura in 1948, and died two years later of tuberculosis and a burst artery.
1,984 bottles of Jura 1984 Vintage will be available at $1,175 per bottle.
