The Bourbon Trail

I almost always drink on the rocks since I find the taste of ice cold whiskey to be far better to my taste buds than if it is at room temperature. I can drink it warm if I must, but I prefer to have it cold.

I can drink it warm too! I think it just has a different taste when it is on the rocks. So much more smoother. Great post SereneAngel.

Yes it would definitely be interesting and worth taking in if an event like that ever happened in this area. If it does you can count me in.

Do you have any sort of beer gardens in your area? If anything, it might be nice to check out a beer festival. I would much rather check out a whiskey tasting, but I'll take what I can get. :)

We do have a beer festival and a wine festival but that is about it. They usually happen in the spring of the year. They are quite large events. We have different beer gardens throughout the summer months during festival time.

Yes, this area is big on wine and beer festivals. They are also expensive. I think that people paying alot of money to go to a festival is kind of short sighted for those who want to promote their brands. I mean they have set up costs and everything, but charging a bit less for these festivals..may get more people who would buy more of the product.

I have to agree with that. The prices are usually quite high to attend such an event.

They are, and even advance tickets for festivals are not much cheaper. The only tickets that are reasonably priced are for the designated drivers,,and that really isn't any fun. If I go to a festival like that I want to sample the product.

It seems like bourbon is to Kentucky like wine is to California-and there is something in the water I think that makes it iron -free and calcium rich, which is great for making bourbon. It seems like a lot of fun though -sitting around and drinking mint juleps and lots of other things to see as well on the Bourbon Trail.

I agree with those saying that the southern regions might be better, at least from what I have seen, but I guess you never know until you try it.

I agree, other than bringing more people, it will even help reach their products a globe.

Lol I'm from Kentucky. It's not the water. It's because there's nothing to do here BUT drink whiskey.

Ha ha, that could be said for much of the South.

And, rarely, and please don't shoot me for this, in the form of a Bourbon Supremo (bourbon and tonic water).

I quite like tonic water. I usually have it with gin though. I'll have to give it a taste with bourbon. Thanks for the idea.

There are plenty of great whiskey's to be found though and the best prices seem to be in the drug stores.

Interesting. That's a great tip. I would have expected them to be more expensive. Drug stores often have high prices on other things besides meds. That's good to know.

It's really good.

????

Well it gets their brand name out there if nothing else. Vinters will also make sure they have the kinds of traffic they need from festivals. I guess a case could be made that by charging more they create the illusion of a premium brand.

Very interesting article. It made me aware of a lof of stuff I didn't know about bourbon. Thanks for sharing!

I wish that these sorts of things even existed around here. Now that I think about it it might as well just be my lack of effort but either way it seems like a good way to spend some time.
