Food Recipes That Call For Beer

One thing I have always wanted to try is a Guiness Float. It couldn't be simpler, you just add vanilla ice cream to Guiness, and it is like a rootbeer float using beer. I have no doubt it would be good. I have had a beer shake before, and it was awesome.
I am not a huge Guinness fan, but I think the ice cream would make me like it more! Cool suggestion.

I'm an awful cook... Let me just start with that.

But there's one particular dish here in Portugal that is renowned for using beer in it's recipe, as well as being something you absolutely must wash down with beer.

It's "Francesinha":

I'm sure that you'll be able to find the recipe online if you want to...
But it's pretty much bread, all kinds of meat, and melted cheese on top. The sauce has beer in it.

Other than that, can't really think of anything.
Most of my beer is in a bottle, a can, or a glass :p
Wow!!! That looks fantastic! Big fan of bread, huge fan of meat, and absolutely in love with beer. This is a must try. Thank you for sharing!

Well, it isn't so much a recipe as it is an addition, but pancakes with beer are really good. The pancakes rise..with the addition of the beer, and are thick and fluffy. I like to add light beer...I am not sure how dark beer would be.
Very interesting! This recipe makes me want to find some sort of maple infused ale. I have an excellent coffee flavored stout that I keep around the house; I'm not sure how well it would do IN the pancakes, but I'm sure it would be a pair worth trying. Thank you for posting!

I like putting a beer on turkey when I make it in the oven. It seems to keep the meat more succulent and gives it that extra bit of taste. It is good at tenderizing meat.

Good idea! What kind of beer do you use? Do you make a baste or just use the beer?

I am liking the sounds of this. I have never tried it but a drunken turkey has got to be good!! lol

Wow never had such a thing and never heard of anybody making one but I am willing to give it a try. I mean beer and ice cream. My two favorite things so it has got to be good!! Sounds like a nice treat to enjoy on one of those hot summer days!! Cheers!

I normally just use a regular light beer, I used a stout once but it made the turkey become a weird color.
Normally I just use a basting syringe to suck up the liquids in the pan and squirt it on top of the turkey.

Honestly I can drink a beer with any type of food, but my favorite is definitely with a big steak and a lot of french fries

they are

I probably should lay off the fried foods but they are most definitely fried. That is one of the main reasons that I want this dish most. I have to laugh because I know that is probably not healthy for me but it just looks so good.

Sadly that is the way that it is it seems. The things that aren't good for you are always the ones that taste the best. :(

Has anyone had an Eisbein that has been made in beer?
Well if you haven't, you should really treat yourself to some at one point.
It is soft, juicy, tender and just delicious! The skin on the outside becomes crispy and it leaves you wanting more.

I also know of some fish batters that have beer in them as their main ingredient.
I personally have never tasted beer battered fish ,p , but I have only ever heard good things about it.
It is definitely one of those dishes that I have to try one day

Sounds good it might not be for everyone but it should be really good. The beer must give it a really full and intense taste.
