What Whisky Is The Best Introductory Whisky?

What whisky would you give to someone who didn't like whisky to make them reconsider?

The first whisky I ever liked was Glen Fiddich so I would probably start with that.

How about you?

I think Jack Daniels may be a good one to start with. It is popular world wide for a reason. I think many people do start with that as a matter of fact, since it is a whiskey that is smooth and full flavored.

I would recommend Crown Royal and if is it not available in their area then I think I would go with Jack Daniels. Not the best but I good started whisky.

I started with the famous grouse, and it was a hard anyway, because it was my first time drinking, but I actually liked it, and that's where a started drinking

I think I would recommend Chivas Regal. It's a 15 year old whiskey so it's nice and smooth. I think that you should give them something to harsh.

Do they not really know whiskey or do they simply not like it?
If it's the first, then a lot of the suggestions above could work.
If it's the latter then obviously you want to go with something different. Try Laphroaig. It has a very strong smoky (but still really smooth) taste. It's one of those whiskeys that you will either love or hate.

Glenlivet is probably available everywhere so it would probably be a good choice for individuals. I think it is somethng that most people would like and be able to benefit form. It is a popular whiskey for individuals.

I tried to avoid suggesting these types of whiskeys because very often you need to know what whiskey tastes like in order to appreciate it.

I'd recommend the basics like Jack or Crown, they're widely available, cheap and popular. I wouldn't suggest something old and fancy... not for a beginner.

I like some good whisky for beginners. If you get the stuff like Evan Williams or stuff that is to cheap, it will scare them away. Get a little bottle of the good stuff and educate your friends about the joy of whisky.

I agree it has to be something smooth that doesn't burn all the way down. For that there is always tequila.

Definitely go with Jack Daniels, especially the Honey version since it doesn't have that burn straight Whisky has and it leaves a nice aftertaste. Also, everyone and their mother know about it, so it shouldn't be that hard to find.

To me, it's probably Jack Daniels. It's the most popular, kind of mainstream I'd say. It has a good taste, too. Not much strong.

Wait a minute there, Evan Williams is way better than its price point and was my first real introduction to whiskey. I'm not the only one who thinks so, as I bought it based on positive reviews.

Yes, I think Jack Daniels is known in most of the world, for it's good taste, and affordable price point, so it is probably the starter whiskey for most. I agree with ed, I don't think there is anything wrong with Evan Williams.

Jack Daniels is probably the way to go, although I started out with Johnny Walker and it was probably better for me. Make sure to get them a sweeter version first so they can get accustomed to the taste.

The smoother style of whiskey for taste is the Irish ones because they are known for this and some cheaper ones include Clontarf and its light, floral and slightly sweet as well. You might want to also try Bushmills Black Bush because it is extremely tasty being rich and fruity, and both of these Whiskeys run about 23 dollars.

No need to reinvent the wheel here. Go with something safe and easy. I would suggest Jack Daniels. Can't go wrong with that... Of course that's only if the person is new to whisky, but if they are not, then something with a bit more flavor and smoothness should do it.
