I tried to avoid suggesting these types of whiskeys because very often you need to know what whiskey tastes like in order to appreciate it.Do they not really know whiskey or do they simply not like it?
If it's the first, then a lot of the suggestions above could work.
If it's the latter then obviously you want to go with something different. Try Laphroaig. It has a very strong smoky (but still really smooth) taste. It's one of those whiskeys that you will either love or hate.
I agree it has to be something smooth that doesn't burn all the way down. For that there is always tequila.I like some good whisky for beginners. If you get the stuff like Evan Williams or stuff that is to cheap, it will scare them away. Get a little bottle of the good stuff and educate your friends about the joy of whisky.
Wait a minute there, Evan Williams is way better than its price point and was my first real introduction to whiskey. I'm not the only one who thinks so, as I bought it based on positive reviews.I like some good whisky for beginners.
