Constantine Attracts Big Money
As expected, people threw big money at Constantine and after the flurry of money was over – Constantine went for $631,850 to the highest bidder [and no, we don’t imply the usage of marijuana]. Constantine, as you may recall from WC’s article a little over a week ago, is the name of one of the largest ever crystal decanters containing Macallan whisky. Only four six-liter crystal decanters of this size were commissioned by The Macallan – each one named after a Roman emperor – two have been kept by the company, one was bought by a private collector in Asia and the fourth, named Constantine, is the only bearing the signatures of the three creators. Constantine contains the “Imperiale” version of its M single malt whisky.
The sale price was a new world record for a single bottle of single malt whisky [old record: $460,000] and proceeds from the sale of Constantine at Sotheby’s in Hong Kong go to various Hong Kong charities.
