The Macallan Serves Up New Whisky Collection
The Macallan has released Volume I, The Laird of Easter Elchies (1659-1715) as the inaugural limited edition whisky in their new Tales of The Macallan collection showcasing The Macallan’s history.
Tales of The Macallan Volume I: The Laird of Easter Elchies is a 71-year-old single malt which pays homage to Captain John Grant, who helped create the Easter Elchies Estate in 1700, home of The Macallan – the estate had been owned by the Grant family since 1543.
Tales of The Macallan Volume I: The Laird of Easter Elchies was bottled at 44.6% alcohol by volume [89.2 proof], is said to contain notes of almond, citrus, melon, nutmeg, sweet wood smoke and vanilla and is encased in a handmade Lalique crystal decanter.
Only 350 decanters of Tales of The Macallan Volume I: The Laird of Easter Elchies is being made available from the distillery for $80,000 per decanter.
