Ardgowan Launches Clydebuilt Single Malts
Ardgowan Distillery has launched a new collection of six Speyside single malts – via their Clydebuilt brand label – featuring three small-batch releases distilled in 2012 and three single-cask bottlings aged for 12 years.
Ardgowan’s Clydebuilt label was launched in 2019 and named after the shipbuilding industry alongside the nearby Firth of Clyde.
All six single malts were matured for 12 years at Ardgowan in European oak sherry casks and were bottled with an age statement at a minimum of 46% alcohol by volume [92 proof].
The first release – Official Opening Day Release – was matured in three sherry casks and bottled at a cask strength of 59.5% alcohol by volume [119 proof] and is being made available for $115 per bottle.
The second small batch release was matured in a combination of sherry butts, finished in Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez hogsheads, bottled at 46% alcohol by volume [92 proof] and is being made available for $65 per bottle.
The third small batch release was bottled at 57.1% alcohol by volume [114.2 proof] and is being made available for $85 per bottle.
The first of the single cask releases – PX Hogshead Single Cask – emerges from a Pedro Ximénez sherry cask, bottled at 58.5% alcohol by volume [117 proof] and will have only 352 bottles available.
The second single cask release – Oloroso Hogshead Single Cask – will have slightly fewer bottles available [342] and was bottled at 59% alcohol by volume [118 proof].
The third single cask release – Manzanilla Hogshead Single Cask – was matured in a Manzanilla sherry cask from the Spanish coastal town of Sanlúcar de Barrameda, bottled at a an eye-popping 61.1% alcohol by volume [122.2 proof] and has the fewest amount of bottles being made available at a mere 335 bottles.
All three single cask single malts are being made available for $115 per bottle.
The entire collection of Ardgowan Clydebuilt single malts are being made available in Austria, Belgium, Germany, Sweden and the UK.
