Bonhams Hong Kong Offering Full Deck Of Rare Whisky

Bonhams Hong Kong will be hosting the largest Asian whisky auction later this month when they auction off more than 200 of rare and collectible Asian whisky in The Rare Single Malt Whisky Auction. Among the items up for bid on the block include the Karuizawa 21-Year-Old in a crystal decanter along with Karuizawa Geisha Series and non-distilled years of the distillery which shut down in 2001. Alongside the Karuizawa items will be the Hanyu Ichiro Playing Card Series. Although the Hanyu Distillery closed in 2000, but one family member of the former distillery owners, Ichiro Akuto, bought back 400 casks and, beginning in 2008, began producing his iconic 53-bottle Ichiro’s Malt Playing Card Series of single malt whiskies. The last of Ichiro’s Malt Playing Card Series – The Joker – was released earlier this year and an entire “full deck” version of the whisky series will be put up on auction. Finally, a Yamazaki 50-Year-Old – of which only 150 bottles were made – will also be on the auction block.
The Bonhams Hong Kong Rare Single Malt Whisky Auction will take place at the Bonhams Hong Kong Gallery in Hong Kong on August 15, 2014.
