GlenAllachie Adds Trio To Wood Finish Series
Speyside distillery GlenAllachie has added a trio of whiskies to their Wood Finish series – an 11-year-old Pedro Ximénez Wood Finish, 12-year-old Ruby Port Wood Finish and 13-year-old Madeira Wood Finish.
The GlenAllachie Pedro Ximenez Wood Finish 11-year-old whisky was matured in American oak barrels for more than nine years, then finished in seasoned dessert-Sherry puncheons, bottled at 48% alcohol by volume [96 proof].
The GlenAllachie 12-year-old Ruby Port Wood Finish was matured for more than 10 years in American oak casks, before being finished in pipe casks which previously contained fortified Portuguese wine, bottled at 48% alcohol by volume [96 proof] and is said to contain notes of damson jam, spicy ginger and grape.
The GlenAllachie 13-year-old Madeira Wood Finish was initially matured in American oak barrels, then finished in casks that previously held wine from Malvasia grapes, bottled at 48% alcohol by volume [96 proof] and is said to contain notes of almond and pineapple.
The GlenAllachie Wood Finish series is being made available with the 11-year-old going for $80 per bottle, the 12-year-old for $85 per bottle and the 13-year-old for $95 per bottle.
