Gordon & MacPhail Unveil 40-Year-Old Mosstowie Single Malt
UK-based bottler, Gordon & MacPhail, has released a 40-year-old single malt Scotch whisky from the Miltonduff Distillery as the third release of their 125th anniversary celebration. Gordon & MacPhail will be releasing four single malts – all from closed distilleries – this year to mark their 125th anniversary.
The Gordon & MacPhail 1979 Mosstowie from Miltonduff Distillery was matured in a refill sherry hogshead cask,, bottled at 49.8% alcohol by volume [99.6 proof] and is said to contain notes of black pepper, butterscotch, dark chocolate and raspberries.
Mosstowie was founded in 1964 by Hiram Walker, who used Lomond stills due to the variety of flavour profiles it produced. However, the stills used to make Mosstowie were removed in 1981 due to the difficulty of cleaning its longer arms.
Only 164 bottles of Gordon & MacPhail 1979 Mosstowie from Miltonduff Distillery are being made available worldwide for $1,955 per bottle.
