Laphroaig has released a pair of cask strength single malt whiskies – Laphroaig 10 Year Old Cask Strength and 25 Year Old Cask Strength – as part of their batch 13.
Laphroaig 10-Year-Old Cask Strength was matured in ex-bourbon casks, bottled at 57.9% alcohol by volume [115.8 proof] and is said to contain notes of honey, peat and sea salt.
Laphroaig 10-Year-Old Cask Strength is being made available for $105 per 700ml bottle.
Laphroaig 25 year Old Cask Strength was also matured in former bourbon casks, but was bottled at 51.9% alcohol by volume [103.8 proof] and is said to contain notes of lime, thyme, white pepper and – curiously – Islay seaweed.
Laphroaig 25 Year Old Cask Strength is being made available for $600 per 700ml bottle.
Laphroaig recommends that both whiskies be served neat with a few drops of water.
