Laphroaig Reveals 38-Year-Old
Islay-based Laphroaig Distillery has released a 38-year-old single malt as the second whisky in their Archive Collection, which celebrates Laphroaig’s history.
Laphroaig 38 Years Old was initially matured in American oak ex-bourbon casks followed by a period of time in a second-fill Oloroso sherry hogshead before being finished in an Oloroso sherry-seasoned European oak butt, then bottled at a cask strength of 41.3% alcohol by volume [82.6 proof] and is said to offer notes of apricots, dates, raisins and, yes, of course, being an Islay single malt, peat smoke.
Only 400 bottles of Laphroaig 38 Years Old Archive Collection are being made available for a mere $4,300 per bottle.
