The Glenlivet Unveils Single Malt Triple Threat
The Glenlivet will be releasing three triple-cask matured single malt whiskies as part of its Master Distiller’s Reserve signature collection. The whiskies each use a different oak in the maturation process.
The Glenlivet triple-cask single malts in the Masters Distiller’s Reserve collection will be available in travel retail outlets beginning July 1, 2015.
Glenlivet’s New Triple-Cask Single Malts:
• Master Distiller’s Reserve – Traditional oak casks are used to deliver the ripe fruit pear and gentle summer floral notes – while first fill American oak provides depth, with creamy notes of coconut and soft fudge. Ex-sherry oak is used to impart dried fruit flavors and spice aromas offering a deeper complexity and richness. Available for $52 per bottle.
• Master Distiller’s Reserve Solera Vatted – Ex-sherry, American oak and traditional oak are are brought together in a solera vat. The vat is never emptied, a process which creates a rich and intense whisky, developing greater complexity. The high concentration of first fill American oak casks brings a creaminess and honeyed sweetness. Available for $75 per bottle.
• Master Distiller’s Reserve Small Batch – Created with individually selected casks, chosen from the collection of whiskies maturing in The Glenlivet warehouses, every cask is nosed prior to the final selection and first fill ex-sherry and American oak casks are combined with traditional oak casks to create this single malt with both fruit and spicy notes. It is then bottled and released in small batches, each with a unique batch number. Available for $150 per bottle.
