The Most Interesting Man In The World Retires

on

In what was only a matter of time, The Most Interesting Man in the World has officially retired. Dos Equis – the beer company that paid for his adventures [and presumably, will be paying for his retirement adventures] has announced that it will retire its long-running ad campaign which began 10 years ago.

The Most Interesting Man in the World was, in actuality, character actor Jonathan Goldsmith, who had several roles in well-known feature films [“Hang ’em High”, “Ice Station Zebra” and “Go Tell the Spartans”] and television series [“Gunsmoke”, “The Littles” and “Dallas”] prior to becoming The Most Interesting Man in the World.

Since the introduction of The Most Interesting Man in the World ad campaign, Dos Equis has nearly tripled its business – with annual sales reaching $325.3 million last year. The Most Interesting Man in the World will depart the world in style with a new ad featuring him being dispatched on a one-way mission to Mars, with characters from past ads bidding him farewell. After that, a new actor will take over as spokesperson for a new campaign slated to begin later this year
