The Royal Salute Age Collection
Normally, spouting off about one’s age is not considered to be a good thing, but in the case of The Age Collection from Royal Salute Scotch whisky, it is most definitely a good thing. Royal Salute has put together 10 whisky blends varying in age from a 21-year-old whippersnapper to a 30-year-old geezer. Each whisky in The Age Collection sits in a specially-designed plinth made from ancient Croatian wood.
The whiskies contained in each Royal Salute Age Collection set are a 21 year old which is described as “richer and sweeter than the signature 21 Years Old blend with a high proportion of malt whisky”; a 22 year old with a higher proportion of malts from first-fill American oak barrels; a 23 year old containing some whiskies from distilleries no longer in existence; a 24 year old containing whiskies matured in top quality Hogshead casks; a 25 year old most faithful to the Royal Salute bedrock malts of Longmorn and Strathisla; a 26 year old with some whiskies from a single Glen; a 27 year old containing a Speyside classic; a 28 year old with more whisky from defunct distilleries; a 29 year old containing whiskies matured in sherry casks and finally, the 30 year old.
The Royal Salute Age Collection will be created in 21 sets and each set will be available for $40,000.
