Yamazaki Single Malt Is World’s Best Whisky According To Jim
Yamazaki – a Japanese single malt whisky – has taken the top prize as the “World’s best Whisky” according to renowned international whisky expert, Jim Murray, in his 2015 Whisky Bible. Specifically, Murray awarded the Yamazaki Single Malt Sherry Cask 2013 with 97.5 out of a possible 100 points – making it the best in the world by his reckoning. Yamazaki Single Malt Sherry Cask 2013 was aged 12 to 15 years in casks which formerly held Oloroso sherry
Only 16,000 bottles of Yamazaki Single Malt Sherry Cask 2013 were produced and all were sent to European markets where they are available for $158 per bottle – or were before this week.
William Larue Weller Bourbon and Sazerac Rye 18-Year-Old were the silver and bronze medal award winners, respectively.
