ColdSnap Offers Bourbon Based Ice Cream
ColdSnap, a Boston-based food technology company, launched their ice cream and frozen confection machines in 2024 for commercial markets and, in their first year of availability, secured a roster of customers for their machines which included Best Buy, Holiday Inn, LinkedIn, Marriott Hotels, Mastercard, NBC Sports and three universities – Ohio State, South Carolina and somewhat surprisingly, Utah.
ColdSnap’s impressive system freezes shelf-stable liquid ice cream or beverage mix from a ColdSnap pod, instantly dispensing the frozen treat directly into a bowl. The system requires no cleaning, as food never touches the machine during freezing, mixing, or dispensing. No plumbing or water lines are needed, and the ColdSnap pods don’t require refrigeration, eliminating the cold chain traditionally associated with shipping and storing frozen treats and beverages.
The list of flavors offered is also impressive and includes a Bourbon Boozy Ice Cream flavor which features vanilla ice cream blended with bourbon and has 2.1% alcohol by volume.
Last year, ColdSnap’s products were only available to commercial markets but this year, ColdSnap is at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas offering their Home Early Adopter Program where, ColdSnap will offer a limited number of machines certified for home use. These machines will provide early adopters with an opportunity to access ColdSnap’s technology in their homes. While ColdSnap’s machines will remain primarily available for commercial use, this early access program offers a select few the chance to experience ColdSnap at home. Full details about the program can be found at www.coldsnap.com/early-adopters-program.
There is, however, a catch, due to state regulations, ColdSnap Boozy Bourbon Ice Cream is only available in the states of Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and, again, surprisingly, Utah.
