Tailored Spirits Gets Experimental Again
Newly-formed Edinburgh-based independent bottler Tailored Spirits has released the second installment of their Experimental Series of limited edition whiskies from Scottish distilleries. Tailored Spirits was founded in 2024 by Adam Harding, Tom Costello, and Carl Johnstone and collaborates with private clients and businesses worldwide in the luxury whisky space.
Tailored Spirits Experimental Series newest releases include four whiskies: Experiment 4 [a 15-year-old from Aultmore], Experiment 5 Echo [a 13-year-old single malt from Benriach], Experiment 6 Fort [a 13-year-old whisky from Dailuaine] and Special Experiment 1 Black Label Anam – a 23-year-old single malt from Springbank Distillery.
Tailored Spirits Experiment 4 from Aultmore was finished in a European oak Montilla wine cask, bottled at 58.3% alcohol by volume [116.6 proof] and is said to contain experimental notes of apple, butterscotch and cinnamon.
Only a mere 151 bottles of Tailored Spirits Experiment 4 are being made available for $110 per 500ml bottle.
Tailored Spirits Experiment 5 Echo, hails from Benriach, was matured in ex-bourbon casks, bottled at 56.3% alcohol by volume [112.6 proof], then finished in a first-fill Pedro Ximénez sherry octave and is said to contain experimental notes of brandy cake, charred oak and marzipan.
An even skimpier 81 bottles of Tailored Experiment 5 Echo are being made available for $110 per 500 ml bottle.
Tailored Spirits Experiment 6 Fort from Dailuaine was finished in a Port cask, bottled at 48.3% alcohol by volume [96.6 proof] and is said to contain experimental notes of basil, blackberry and raspberry.
Only 109 bottles of Tailored Experiment 6 Fort are being made available for $105 per 500ml bottle.
Finally, Tailored Spirits Special Experiment 1, Black Label Anam from Campbeltown-based Springbank Distillery was bottled at 53.9% alcohol by volume [107.8 proof] and is mostly unavailable to normal consumers as it was an exclusive release – limited to 33 bottles at $650 per 500ml bottle – and only for consumers who have purchased six bottles from the series.
