The Macallan Christens Carta Nautica
Speyside-based The Macallan has launched their new Carta Nautica range with a quartet of whiskies including a 20-year-old whisky destined exclusively for global travel retail (GTR).
The Macallan’s new Carta Nautica line consists of the GTR-exclusive Carta Nautica 20 Year Old, The Macallan Carta Nautica Distilled in 1987 (available in GTR and domestically), The Macallan Carta Nautica (available in Latin America and Mexico) and the USA-exclusive Macallan Carta Nautica 105 Proof.
Each The Macallan Carta Nautica whisky was initially matured in sherry-seasoned oak casks from Spain’s famous Jerez de la Frontera region, before being finished in ex-bourbon casks from North America.
The Macallan Carta Nautica 20 Year Old was bottled at 42% alcohol by volume (84 proof) and is said to contain notes of apricot, mango and orange. The Macallan Carta Nautica 20 Year Old is being made available for $800 per bottle and is being rolled at in GTR at Singapore’s Changi Airport until October 18, 2026, before being exposed to the rest of the world beginning on October 19, 2026.
The Macallan Carta Nautica Distilled in 1987 was bottled at 45.2% alcohol by volume (90.4 proof) and is said to contain notes of peach, pineapple and pink grapefruit.
The Macallan Carta Nautica for Latin America and Mexico was bottled at 43% alcohol by volume (86 proof) and is said to contain notes of green apple, pear and white chocolate.
The Macallan 105 Proof was bottled at 52.5 alcohol by volume (105 proof) and is said to contain notes of honeycomb, nougat and vanilla.
