In the West Wind Distillery Sold Out Whisky Casks
One of West Wales’ top distilleries, In the Welsh Wind, successfully sold out all its 30 liter whisky casks to investors. The distillery is pioneering whisky production using locally grown barley and ‘green’ malt. The 30 liter casks were single malt Welsh Origin whisky.
According to a report published by Cambrian News, the distillery offered the casks investment as a means for the Welsh to invest in whisky that is 100 percent Welsh single malt whisky. The company was impressed by the response which saw all available casks sold out.

The distillery that is located in the Gogerddan Arms in Tan-y-groes, is currently the only Welsh distillery that completes the maturation process on-site. The company blends its expressions using 100% locally produced barley to prepare its concoction.
Investors in the 30 liter casks were allowed to choose from 10 prepared cask seasonings including traditional red wine and sherry to Tequila.
co-owner and director of In the Welsh Wind Distillery Ellen Wakelam said: “To have sold out of our 30 litre casks is a massive achievement for us. We are hugely grateful that so many people have seen the excitement in what we are doing and have trusted us in this way.
“The processes we’ve developed over the last couple of years ensure all aspects of production take place here in Wales and reduce the amount of energy we use in our own whisky production.
“Research with the Open University suggests that the combination of local barley and on-site malting gives our whisky a flavor profile unique to South Ceredigion.“
