Kadamba Nabs Best Indian Single Malt Whisky
The winning whisky, Kadamba’s Signature Expression, is double distilled and aged in bourbon, sherry, and virgin American oak casks. This unique aging process results in a rich and complex flavor profile.
Known as one of the world’s most prestigious whisky competitions, the World Whiskies Awards feature blind tastings of approximately 6,000 whiskies from the top 60 distilleries in the world. Kadamba’s victory underscores the exceptional quality and craftsmanship of its products.
Kadamba’s vintage single malt whisky is bottled in limited quantities to maintain its exceptional quality. The whisky is presented in a decanter made of 3D cut glass, giving it a collector’s item, and is only available in select wine stores and high-end bars in Goa.
Kadamba Wins Best Single Malt Whisky at Icons of Whisky Awards
Having been recognized by Icons of Whisky awards highlights Kadamba single-malt whisky’s exceptional quality and craftsmanship. This award further cements India’s growing prominence in the global whisky business.
Notably, this award forms part of the annual competition, which showcases the best people and places in the whisky world. Entitled the Rest of World, it is one of six regions that presents awards, including Ireland, Scotland, America, China, and India.
Among this year’s Rest of World winners are:
- Zuidam Distillers – Netherlands, which was crowned distiller of the year;
- Callington Mill Distillery– Australia, which was awarded the title of craft producer of the year; and
- Ally Bhana – Sullivans Cove Distillery, who was elected world whisky brand ambassador of the year.
The Icons of Whisky Rest of World results coincided with the announcement of the winners of the 2024 World Whiskies Awards, held in London during a global judging session. They were also followed by the announcement of the winners of the 2024 Icons of Whisky competition in Ireland and Scotland. The winners in America were announced at a ceremony on February 8, 2024, in Louisville, Kentucky.
Bethany Brown, chair of judges for the Icons of Whisky, said:
“Our Rest of World distillers are proving time and again that the New World’s shorter history of whisky production in no way diminishes its standing in the category globally.
”From Norway to New Zealand, the Rest of World region is spawning its own revered master distillers, building passionate teams of whisky experts, and shedding light on new ways to make whisky, and more distilleries are now showing off their work and wares to the public with world-class visitor experiences.
”As the region continues on this positive trajectory, we at the Icons of Whisky can’t wait to see which avenues these producers will explore next.”
