Kavalan Debuts Lan For The Rest Of The World
Taiwan-based Kavalan Distillery has released Lan, their first whisky created specifically with the rest of the world in mind, as it will be destined for the export market. Kavalan Lán is so named as a nod to Yilan County in northeastern Taiwan where the Kavalan Distillery was born in 2005 and where they released their first single malt in 2008.
Kavalan Lán was matured in both ex-bourbon and ex-Port casks, as well as an enhancement period spent in shaved, toasted and re-charred (STR) Vinho wine barriques, was bottled at 43% alcohol by volume [86 proof] and is said to impart notes of chocolate, cinnamon and vanilla.
Kavalan Lán is being made available in markets in Asia, Canada, Europe and the USA for $70-90 per bottle, depending on the 700ml or 750ml bottle size selected.
