Kilchoman Debuts Quartet Of Single Malts For 20th Anniversary
Islay-based distillery Kilchoman Distillery has released a quartet of small batch single malt whiskies to celebrate their 20th anniversary, calling them the 20th Anniversary Cask Series, consisting of four small batch bottlings, with five casks of each.
Only 1,120 bottles of the first of the quartet, a 14-year-old matured in an ex-bourbon cask aged single malt, are being made available at 51.2% alcohol by volume [102.4 proof] and is said to produce notes of caramel, lemon and subtle peat smoke.
Slightly more – 3,145 bottles – are being made available of the second of the quartet, a 14-year-old matured in ex-sherry casks, bottled at 55% alcohol by volume [110 proof] and is said to produce notes of barbecue smoke, black pepper, dark chocolate and licorice.
A few bottles more – 3,153 – are being made available of the third of the quartet, a 15-year-old matured in ex-sherry casks, bottled at 52.7% alcohol by volume [105.4 proof] and is said to contain notes of dark fruits, pepper and smoke.
Last but not least comes the 1,209 bottles of the 18-year-old, matured in ex-bourbon casks, bottled at 46% alcohol by volume [92 proof] and is said to contain notes of butterscotch, caramel, vanilla and peat smoke.
The Kilchoman 20th Anniversary Cask Series is being made available in Europe and the UK for $160-$250.
