The Macallan Brings Folio 8 Across The Pond

Speyside distillery, The Macallan, has released Folio 8, as the latest entry in their Archival Series launched 10 years ago, and – for the first time – will be made available in the USA.

The Macallan Folio 8 is a bit of self-congratulation as it celebrates whisky brand’s advertising campaigns from the 1980s and 1990s and, toward that end, The Macallan Folio 8 features the brand’s 1980s-era ‘The Colossus of Nose’ billboard promotion that references the famous Colossus of Rhodes – the giant bronze statue of the Greek sun god Helios that was considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

The Macallan Folio 8 Crafted emanates from first-fill and refill European oak sherry casks, was bottled at 43% alcohol by volume [86 proof] and is said to offer notes of ginger, lemon, orange and toffee.

While The Macallan Folio 8 is being made available in the USA, only 450 bottles of the whisky are being sent across the pond with other bottles being made available at The Macallan Estate Boutique and selected The Macallan Airport Boutiques for $400 per bottle.
