Virginia Distillery Rolls Out New ”House-Brand” Edition
As a pioneer in the American single malt category, Virginia Distillery Company has announced a new line of whiskies. The distillery says will be its new “house-brand” offerings.
There are three single malts in the new American Single Malt Whisky collection: Port Cask Reserve, Cider Cask Finish, and Cabernet Cask Select. Each spirit was bottled at 93 proof and is set to improve consumer choice.
“Today marks a significant milestone for our company and the American Single Malt category.” Virginia Distillery Company CEO Gareth Moore said in a news release.
“We continue to receive strong support from both the trade and consumers for American Single Malt. And our goal now is to expand the range of choices within our category to attract consumers from both bourbon and Single Malt Scotch.”

Notably, each expression is initially matured in first-fill ex-bourbon casks. Later, these whiskies are finished in tawny port casks from Portugal as well as port-style wine casks from Virginia. The cider cask release is finished in French calvados casks, Virginia cider barrels, and Laird’s Apple Brandy barrels.
As is customary with Virginia Distillery’s products, The spirit emits aromas on the nose that swell honeycomb, walnuts, and gingerbread. This is followed by a lingering taste on the palette of lemon, red berries, subtle smoke and cocoa.
According to the brand, the Cabernet Cask Select is matured in a variety of cabernet barrels, including barrels from France and California.
“The level of matured stocks we’ve reached has enabled us to introduce an entry-level priced product within the American Single Malt category. Representing a significant development for our business,” Moore said.
“We remain committed to leading the American Single Malt movement. This new house-brand will serve as the gateway to the American Single Malt category. It will be showcased alongside our luxury brand, Courage & Conviction, allowing us to cater to a broad spectrum of consumer preferences and price points.”
