3 Whiskies – Kanosuke Distillery Enters US Market With Three Whiskies
Three Japanese whiskies are coming! Popular Japan’s Kanosuke Distillery enters the US drinks market with three of its most desired spirits. The distillery is introducing a single malt, a single grain, and a blended whisky.
According to a press release, three expressions from Kanosuke Distillery’s core range of whiskies will arrive in the US this summer. A spokesperson from the company highlighted the euphoria felt on finally completing all processes for its market expansion.
“We are very proud to share Kanosuke Distillery’s core range with American whiskey connoisseurs,” Yoshitsugu Komasa, Kanosuke founder, CEO, and master blender said. “We are excited to bring our whiskies to the US and raise the visibility and prestige of Japanese spirits overall.”
Three Core Whiskies from Kanosuke Distillery En Route to US Market

Distilled in three Miyake copper pot stills, Kanosuke Japanese Single Malt complies with the aging regime. That is, the spirit is aged in ex-mellowed Kozuru casks or ex-shochu casks, and bottled at 48% ABV. On the nose, the single malt features notes of banana, lemon cake, ginger, and campfire smoke.
Similarly, the Hioki Japanese Pot Still Grain Whisky is made from both non-malted and malted barley. The liquid is prepared using a stainless steel pot still and vacuum distillation, as used in shochu production. Ideally, the whisky is bottled at 51% ABV with features stone fruit, citrus, vanilla, and almonds.
Blended by the grandson of Kanosuke Komasa, the Double Distillery Japanese blended whisky marries two distinct spirits. The expression combines Kanosuke single malt with Hioki Pot Still Single Grain whisky. On the nose, the blend contains notes of melon, black tea, clove, and orange peel.
In 2021, Diageo acquired a minority stake in Kanosuke via its drinks incubator Distill Ventures. Making history, the company became the first investor to make a significant investment in Japan’s whisky industry.
