Nine People Brought Down In Bourbon Bust
For six or seven years – authorities still are not sure when exactly – dozens of “rogue” workers at the Buffalo Trace and Wild Turkey distilleries made off with the company bourbon – specifically the two namesake distillery bourbons and whiskies as well as Pappy Van Winkle and Eagle Rare bourbon. Nine people were arrested and charged – three of whom worked as employees at the distilleries – after loose barrels belonging to the distilleries were discovered behind a shed on the property of one of the employees, who was described as the ringleader of the operation.
The value of the stolen barrels of whiskey and bottles of bourbon is estimated to be near $100,000.
