Gods of Fortune – Chichibu Releases New Spirit in 7even Series
Seven editions of Chichibu whisky were released from 2022 to 2025 as part of the 7even Gods of Fortune series. Originally released in 2022, the seventh edition of this series is Fukurokuju, named after a god worshipped in Japan since the Middle Ages. The series has released Ebisu, Hotei, Bishamonten, and Benzaitan single cask whiskies.
It is said that all seven expressions “share the fortune of the very best Chichibu casks, and each god represents the essence of good fortune.” The fifth release depicts Fukurokuju, the god of wealth and longevity, who is said to bring a wealth of flavors and a finish that lasts for a long time.”
On the nose, Fukurokuju offers ‘floral and fruity aromas’, followed by a taste of tropical fruits and peppery notes. Ideally, it is blended with Odyssey barley, aged eight years in a Bourbon barrel, and bottled at 61% ABV.
7even Gods of Fortune Series Gets New Whisky
Unfortunately, not all is good news for whisky enthusiasts. The new release whisky is a limited edition of 188 bottles and will be available only through Salud Spirits. As for presentation, the series has been designed in partnership with digital and NFT designer Warbb.
“When I was approached by this wonderful whisky brand, I was immediately enthusiastic. It’s an honor to contribute to the total customer experience, and for me, it’s the ultimate way to bring my art alive,” said Robbin Snijders, the artist behind Warbb.
In addition, Salud Spirits partners with the Japanese Consulate in the Netherlands to hold a benefit in support of Second Harvest Japan. This charity helps those in need to have access to food. The date of the benefit will be announced later.
During the event, Salud Spirits will auction the second bottle of Fukurokuju and other exclusive Chichibu bottlings. Bidders have the chance to have their bottles personally signed by Chichibu distillery owner Ichiro Akuto.
