Milroy’s Celebrates 60 Years of Peated Whisky
Milroy’s, an independent retailer and bottler celebrating its 60th anniversary, has released Heavily Peated 13 Years Old. The whisky marks the first continuous release from the distillery. The company was founded by John “Jack” Milroy and his brother, Wallace, in 1964.
The Heavily Peated 13 Years Old represents the culmination of a 13-year aging process at Jura Island Distillery. It is finished in first-fill Jamaican rum casks from Monymusk Distillery in Jamaica. The spirit has notes of ‘tropical fruit funk’ and ‘complex smoke’.
A series of three tasting events will take place at Milroy’s recently refurbished and rebranded whisky bar on 3 Greek Street in London’s Soho to commemorate its past, present and future. Each event will feature cocktails featuring the new Heavily Peated expression.

According to Milroy’s, the events will start with a presentation on the Ben Nevis Distillery on 14 November, followed by the Vintage Reserve tasting on 19 November. This collection contains well-aged malts that showcase classic whisky-making techniques.
On November 26, the final event will give an exclusive look at unreleased cask samples destined for future bottlings.
“Milroy’s is a much-loved whisky institution, and London’s original whisky specialist,” said CEO Jolyon Dunn. “Over the past six decades, the business has become known as a world-leading purveyor of whiskies and other fine spirits. We’re committed to sourcing and sharing these remarkable bottlings, and releasing Heavily Peated, with its remarkable production story and fascinating flavor profile, is a fitting way to celebrate this milestone.
“We’re also delighted to welcome Milroy’s friends and customers to our 3 Greek Street partner bar to taste some of our most renowned bottlings from the past. As well as sharing these remarkable whiskies, we’re also excited to share samples from upcoming bottlings as we look ahead, too.
“It is an honor to lead Milroy’s as it marks 60 years, and I’m thrilled for what the future holds for us as an independent whisky merchant and bottler.”
