Bruichladdich Debuts Organic Barley 16-Year-Old
The good news is that Islay-based distillery Bruichladdich has released a 16-year-old single malt whisky using organically-farmed barley, the bad news is that it is only available via global travel retail (GTR) venues.
Bruichladdich [aka Laddie] Organic Barley 16-Year-Old was made with 100% organically grown barley from Mid Coul Farm in Inverness, Scotland – organically grown being defined as without artificial fertilizers, agrochemicals or pesticides – matured in ex-bourbon American oak casks, bottled at 50% alcohol by volume [100 proof] and is said to impart notes of apricot, caramel corn and pineapple.
Bruichladdich Organic Barley 16-Year-Old is being made available at Singapore’s Changi Airport as well as airport venues in Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Glasgow, India, London and the Middle East.
