Tormore Begins Whisky Revival
Speyside-based Tormore Distillery is in revival mode with the release of a trio of single malt whiskies – Tormore 12 Year Old, Tormore 16 Year Old Sherry Cask and the non-age statement Tormore Timeless – after the distillery’s 2022 purchase from Pernod Ricard by London-based Elixir Distillers. Tormore Distillery whiskies had primarily been used as blending whiskies under Pernod Ricard.
Tormore 12 Year Old is a blend of whiskies matured in former bourbon barrels, toasted American oak casks and sherry-seasoned casks, bottled at 46% alcohol by volume [92 proof] and is said to contain notes of almond, coconut and peach. Tormore 12 Year Old is being made available for $75 per 700ml bottle.
Tormore 16 Year Old was finished in both American and European oak sherry casks, bottled at 46.8% alcohol by volume [93.6 proof] and is said to contain notes of blackberry, lemon and dates. Tormore 16 year old is being made available for $105 per 700ml bottle.
Last but not least, Tormore Timeless has been matured mostly in ex-bourbon barrels, bottled at 43% alcohol by volume [86 proof] and is said to contain notes of honeysuckle, peach and vanilla. Tormore Timeless is being made available for $55 per 700ml bottle.
