A St. Patrick’s Day Option – Midleton Dair Ghaelach Irish Whiskey – If You’re In Ireland
The Irish whiskies will be coming out of woodwork the next seven days – but that is a good thing – and the latest arrival for your drinking consideration on St. Patrick’s Day next week is single pot still Irish whiskey Midleton Dair Ghaelach. This particular Irish whiskey was finished in virgin Irish oak Hogshead casks after first having been matured for between 15 and 22 years in traditional ex-Bourbon casks. The result is a 58.1% alcohol content [116.2 proof] Irish whiskey with significantly detectable notes of caramel, chocolate and vanilla.
Alas, the only way you can hope to have Midleton Dair Ghaelach Irish whiskey is if you find yourself in Ireland next week, otherwise, you will have to wait until April 2015 for the privilege of separating $250 of your money for a bottle.
